Perhaps a few had already met online and formed a group, but it is thought that the OnLiners' first group was born at the National Convention held in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1994.

A website was started and

The Rural Carrier Information Gateway, RCIG, and the email group on Rootsweb would follow. A Delphi RC group is connected to the RCIG. The Rootsweb E Mail Group and Delphi Forum would become known as the ON LINERS.

Over the years from the group, several websites and forums were tried.

But it seems that everyone returns to the RLC @ Rootsweb EMail Group at some point in their RLC life line.
